YOGYAKARTA- A total of 13 booths of food and beverages from Thursday (10/3) until Saturday (12/3) enlivened the Gallusia Food Festival event at the yard of UGM Faculty of Animal Science. A variety of culinary was presented in the festival, among others, fried milk, sausage, chicken soup, creze bread, steak, nuggets, carica and grilled meatballs. The event was opened Thursday morning by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Business Development of UGM Faculty of Animal Science, Ir. Edi Suryanto, M.Sc., Ph.D.
Gallusia Food Festival’s Committee Chairman, Risa Dwi Prianti (student of class of 2009), accompanied by Deasi Fitriani (student of class of 2007) told that the series of events were held related to the plan of Gallusia Magazine’s launching in the middle of this month. "The food festival event is related to the Gallusia magazine launching in the middle of this month," said Risa.
She said besides the culinary festival, in the event were also held the Zuper Duper Hot contest, photography competition and talk shows. The talk show with the theme Delicious and Healthy Food, Hospitality Business Opportunities, and Pros and Cons of Cholesterol, presented speakers from BPOM, Indonesian Chef Association, and Health Food Community Indonesia.”The theme of course is also not far from the food issue," said Risa.
Meanwhile, according to Deasi, the Zuper Duper Hot event is a contest of eating super spicy food. In the preliminary round, participants ate fried snacks with chilis. In the final round, participants competed to eat extremely hot traditional cuisine. "We call this as a hot contest, sir, so, there is the chili eating contest and later in the final the eating of extremely hot food contest," Deasi explained.
For the photography competition, the theme is Me and My Food, prizes are the plaque and trophy of Vice Governor of Yogyakarta, Sleman Regent, and Dean of the UGM Faculty of Animal Sciences.
