YOGYAKARTA – Faculty of Biology UGM socializes international publication grant and internship in foreign countries. The event is one of a series of Indonesia Managing Higher Education for Relevance and Efficiency (I-MHERE) programs from Higher Education Board 2010. The event attended by lecturers of the Faculty took place in Lower Conference Room and was chaired by Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Research, Dr. Endang Semiarti, MS, M.Sc., accompanied by the team leader of each program, namely Dr.biol.hom.Nastiti Wijayanti, M. Si, team leader of program 1.1.3, and Dr. rer. nat.Ari Indriyanto, team leader of program 1.2.2.
As it is known, Faculty of Biology, Universitas Gadjah Mada is one of three faculties winning research grant of Indonesia Managing Higher Education for Relevance and Efficiency (I-MHERE) of Higher Education Board in 2010, besides Forestry and Pharmacy Faculties. Nastiti said the international publication grant is for eight winners who will be determined through a review by journal impact factor and the breadth of study field.
"The requirements are proposed by the first author from the Faculty of Biology. Reprinted scripts should be available," said Nastiti.
Meanwhile, script proposal starts from 1 April 2011 and closes by August 26, 2011. Recipients of grants will be announced in September 2011.
In the same place, Dr.rer.nat.Ari Indriyanto said internship program abroad will be conducted at two locations, namely the College of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Chubu University, Japan and School of Life Environmental Science, Charles Darwin University, Australia. Meanwhile, the implementation of activities will be conducted in May 2011 to September 2011.
"The activity is especially for lecturers who have not received another grant from the I-MHERE of Faculty of Biology. The term of internship is a maximum of 1 month," Ari explained.
Later, internship lecturers will be provided travel costs, visa and passport assistance, and accommodation.
In addition to getting the socialization of international publication and internship grants, the lecturers at Faculty of Biology also get the opportunity to have a lecture by Dr.Ariel Lindner of the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinary, Paris, France. Ariel discussed about the fusion of multidisciplinary-based research including for curriculum development.
