YOGYAKARTA-Economic reality showed that community’s economic behavior and the government’s economic policy still deviate from the values of Pancasila(The five Principles of Indonesia). This happened because Pancasila for people is just limited to the extent where it affects the pattern of sense (pattern of feeling) and thought patterns (patterns of thinking), but not yet influencing the daily behavior or action patterns (pattern of action). The result is the low resistance to outside influences that put forward the need for material, allowing lust, greed, and the impeded implementation of Pancasila values in national economic policy.
This is confirmed by the economist who is also Rector of Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec., in Great Thinker Economic Series "Community Economy as the Basis of Pancasila Economy": Learning from Prof.Dr.Mubyarto at the Graduate School of UGM on Thursday (24/3).
Edy adds many state policy has its direction contrary to the principles or pillars of the Pancasila economy, such as rice import policy, fuel prices increase, the recapitulation of banking, foreign debt, mark-up practices and widespread corruption in government. "Well, that policy may actually be tested by the Constitution Court (MK). Thus, the Constitution Court needs to be equipped with resources or staff of experts in the field of economy, specifically suited to the Pancasila," said Edy.
According to Edy, it is naive to expect the implementation of Pancasila in the economic field by the public if government policies and officials deviate from it. Contextualization and the implementation of Pancasila cannot be separated from the enforcement of applicable laws, which are also sourced from the Pancasila.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Musa Asy’arie, Professor of Philosophy who is also Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, explaining the national economic development with the priorities based on high economic growth will ultimately lead to sharpening of social, cultural, economic and political inequalities. Thus, the rich will get richer and the poor get poorer. The economic growth was simply distributed and dominated by a handful of elites who have signed contracts and closely linked to the cartel economic network. "The approach of this economic growth has not changed, either in the new order and the current reform order. As a result, there was demoralization, such as tax mafia and law mafia," said Moses.
In the same place, Chairman of the UGM Department of Economics and Business, Prof. Mudrajad Kuncoro, Ph.D., said Mubyarto agreed if Pancasila is accepted as the ideology of nation. Therefore, no need to hesitate to refer to it in compiling the economic system.
The determination of the Pancasila economic platform as a whole (multisectoral) and overall (national) placed Indonesia as the country which adopts a typical economy, namely Pancasila Economic System (SEP). "Pancasila economic system stands in favor of the people’s economy," the Professor of UGM explained.
As is known, SEP was initiated by Prof. Mubyarto in the 1980’s. SEP designation was previously raised by Prof. Emil Salim around the year of 1966. In the economic system of Pancasila, Mubyarto stressed Indonesia’s economic leaders, both from the government, the business world as well as experts, to think hard to set rules of economic system that refer to the social system and culture of Indonesia.
