Gama Cendikia Student Activity Unit sends delegation to The 2nd Annual Indonesian Scholars Conference in Taiwan (AISC-Taiwan) from March 19 – 20 in Asia University. The delegation was Ziyad Taufik (Chemistry, class of 2008) and Andri Wahyu Ekowati (Anthropology, 2008)
In a conference that raised the theme Becoming "Asian Tiger" through Modern Agriculture-based Industry: Revitalization and Modernization of Education, Technology, Economy, and Investment Climate in Agricultural Sector, Gama Cendikia delegation presented the results of interdisciplinary research from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences Department of Anthropology and Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department of Chemistry. The research conducted in the field of cultural, linguistic and social change study is entitled The Role of Social Capital in Developing Rural Areas: A Case Study in Petungkriyono Community.
Ziyad Taufik said the participation of Gama Cendikia’s delegations in this event is one form of knowledge acceleration among the students. In addition, this event became a forum to promote interdisciplinary research and study conducted by the students of UGM in international forums.
Ziyad added that the Gama Cendikia’s delegation also had the opportunity to participate in the field trip to several places such as the Sun Moon Lake and Fengchia Night Market.
The participation of Gama Cendikia in the AISC-Taiwan 2011 is inseparable from the support of the University, the Provincial Government of Yogyakarta, and the Ministry of National Education through the Excellent Scholarship Program, Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation. The scholarship program is intended to deliver the best nation’s personality who cares about the nation and country and has high credibility in developing the nation.
