YOGYAKARTA – Indonesian Payload Rocket Competition (KOMURINDO 2011) will be held again. This year KOMURINDO 2011 will be held from June 25 to 27. KOMURINDO is an annual competition of national payload rocket among universities in Indonesia. As usual, this event will be held at Pandansimo Beach, Bantul – Yogyakarta.
Initiating KOMURINDO 2011, on Saturday (23/4) a Workshop was held at Faculty of Mathematics and Naturals Sciences UGM. According to Dr. Agfianto Eko Putra, M.Sc., the committee chairman, the workshop this time was followed by 40 groups from all over Indonesia, which had previously passed selection test.
"Participants will be given detailed technical explanation of events and distribution of radio transceiver components," Agfianto said on the sidelines of the event.
Agfianto explained that KOMURINDO 2011 carried the theme Attitude Monitoring and Surveillance Payload. The participants are required to use camera as the primary payload which is placed in the launched rockets. The data from the camera should be sent to the ground station telemetrically. This theme is the development of the last year’s one.
"Now, with competitions like this, Indonesia is expected to master aerospace technology which starts from Indonesian students," he added.
Before changing into KOMURINDO, the competition was named Korindo (Indonesian Rocket Competition). In 2011, the competition was renamed into KOMURINDO. KOMURINDO 2011 is the cooperation among Directorate of Higher Education, UGM, LAPAN, AAU and Bantul Regency.
Agfianto emphasized that in addition to the workshop and presentation of participants in the Parasamya Hall, Bantul Regency, KOMURINDO 2011 series will also be enlivened with exhibition of aerospace and outer space development and technology, such as rocket, unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), and Nano satellite. Besides, traditional arts from Bantul Regency will be performed.
Attending the workshop were Dr. H. Nadjamuddin Ramly, M. Si (Ministry of National Education), and Dr. Rika Andiarti (LAPAN).
