Corporate Lawyer is one of the professions in the legal field which is considered quite promising, especially in relation to financial issues. For the matter, corporate lawyers are hourly paid at around 300 dollars in average. Although quite promising in terms of the financial matter, this profession requires hard work because of its intensive and rigorous work time. “The work time could be from 09:00 to 01:00 hours in the morning," said the alumnus of the UGM Faculty of Law, who is a corporate lawyer, Muhtar Ali, S.H, LL.M. (Founding Partners of the Muhtar Halim & Partners Law Office) in the Seminar on Introduction of Corporate Lawyer Profession, at UGM recently. On that occasion, Muhtar Ali was accompanied by his associate, Halim Indrajaya, S.H.
Muhtar Ali said the scope of work of a corporate lawyer is international (80% of his clients are foreign clients). He also added that one important task of corporate lawyers is legal due diligence of the corporation. "Well, one of the success key of corporate lawyer profession is a good mastery of foreign languages," he said.
The seminar initiated by Law Career Development Center (LCDC) Faculty of Law UGM is aimed to introduce more about corporate lawyer to profession students who graduate from the Faculty of Law. The event that received considerable interest from the students was opened by the Dean of the Faculty, Dra. Dani Krisnawati, S.H, M. Hum.
