Head of Center of Entrepreneur Development (CED), Universitas Gadjah Mada, Dr. Ir. Edi Suryanto, M.Sc., said that entrepreneurship was a subject that should be given in college. Entrepreneurshiplearning is expected to reduce the high rates of unemployment, especially among the educated group (graduates and diploma graduates).
Data of National Development Planning Agency (Bapennas) in 2009 showed high rates of unemployment which reached 4.1 million people. Meanwhile, 2 million of them are educated unemployment (graduates and diploma graduates). "Therefore, entrepreneurship becomes important to be offered in the university. Spirit of entrepreneurship education is given to enhance and develop the skills and knowledge among the students to make them ready after graduating. Our broader goal is that entrepreneurship can improve the quality of human life,"Edi said, Thursday (5/5), at UC UGM in a workshop Student Entrepreneurship Development Assistance Method.
Chairman of the Student Entrepreneurship Program UGM, Ibnu Wahid Fakhrudin Aziz, STP, MT, said that the success of entrepreneurship learning in universities relied onhigh passion and commitment by both faculties and institutions. In addition, developing entrepreneurship should be done with coaching method. "Entrepreneurship development method should be done by coaching method, not only with other multidimensional learning methods," Ibnu said.
According to Ibnu, coaching method plays significant role in the development of entrepreneurship program for students. This method not only provides training, but also business support service to prospective employers. "The coach just as a consultant to show the students ways to improve their business effectiveness. Solving the problem is expected from the actors themselves," he explained.
