Minister for Youth and Sport Andi Mallarangeng hopes that there is synergy between youth, sports, culture and Information Technology (IT). During this time, Andi sees that the four areas are not synergistic and are run separately. As a result, the role and function of youth is not optimal because they are not involved in culture, sports, let alone IT. "The young people who just like sports will certainly miss science and technology. Conversely, if ones only likes science, technology and culture, but not sport, they would be sickly and unhealthy," said Andi in the National Seminar of Paradox of Indonesian Youth: Problems, Potential, and Action Agenda in Faculty of Social and Political Sciences’ Post-Graduate Room, Saturday (21/5).

From that condition, Andi Mallarangeng has the initiative to unify the four areas in the form of a stadium located in one complex. Thus, in the future there will be youth and sports arenas that are adjacent to the cultural and IT arena, so they can communicate with each other. "Well, if you have one complex that is adjacent, it will attract the youth interaction," said Andi who is a graduate of Department of Sociology UGM.

Andi admitted, so far there is no fundamental research on youth. In fact, even in the Ministry of Youth and Sport sometimes when talking about the youth, it is only focus on the problem of youth organizations. In fact, the problem of youth is more extensive than just youth organizations. "The problem of youth is extensive and not limited to the issue of youth organizations," he added.

For this reason, Andi strongly supports the establishment of the Youth Studies Center pioneered by lecturers and researchers of sociology. It is expected that by presence of the Youth Study Center, abbreviated into YouSure, it can be a means to discuss youth issues. He cited the case of  radicalization of youth and NII that has victimized many young people. "Since this is the only research institute/studies of youth, I hope this can also involve other disciplines of science outside of sociology, so that it will be more complex," said Andi.

In relation with the establishment of YouSure, Arie Sujito as the member of the board said the agency has a mandate to conduct the assessment and development of science in the field of youth that is oriented in the progress of the nation. Its establishment was also motivated by concerns about the lack of studies institute that specifically explore the issue of youth despite of its importance as subject of change and social dynamics. YouSure consists of several divisions, namely research and publications, advocacy, development of youth networks as well as training and seminars.
