A total of 52 educators and educational staff at the UGM received Employment Decree as the candidate for Civil Servant (CPNS). The submission of the employment decree was conducted by the Director of Human Resources, Harjadi, S.H, M.M, accompanied by the Secretary of Human Resources Directorate, Dra. Emmy Indjatmiati, M.Sc., and Head of Office Affairs Sub-directorate, Dra. Budi Ngestiningsih, in the Multimedia Room, on Wednesday (25/5).

The educators and educational personnel also received general briefing as candidates for Civil Servant by the Director of Human Resources. Other materials that are also given in the briefing is the development of human resources and discipline by the Secretary of Human Resources, UGM's values  by Prof. Dr. dr. Sutaryo, Sp. A (K), archive by Daryono, B.Sc., and the number of credit issue by Bambang Dwi Suko Widodo. "This is a good first step in pursuing a career, namely to choose a profession with the status of civil servants," Harjadi conveyed when he began his speech at the general briefing.

Harjadi asked that the submission of the employment decree for Civil Servants is not merely considered as a formality, but it is necessary to emphasise that they work at UGM. Trust has been given to them, therefore, they are expected to work in earnest. "While it’s still early, develop the goodwill so that through your respective areas of assignment, you will commit yourselves to contribute to UGM’s development," he conveyed.

By receiving the employment decree, the educators and education personnel serve as the state apparatus. As the state apparatus, the task priority is to provide excellent service to the community. "Based on a sense of responsibility, honesty, fairness and equity, excellent service has to be provided to the state, society, and the development," he said.

Harjadi admitted that not every civil servant provides services directly to the public. However, any kind of service provides the same benefits to the community. "People who are in charge of the Educational Hospital clearly provide direct service to patients. However, the Directorate of Human Resources, for example, although it seems not directly serving the community outside the campus, all forms of service still provide benefits to the community. Therefore, even if we only provide services for employees, such as coaching, career and rank, and decree issuance, the Directorate of Human Resources still provide the benefits. Thus, the type of services should not be interpreted narrow-mindedly, but in the broadest sense," he added.
