Faculty of Geography team of UGM managed to dominate a scientific writing competition that was held in Undiksha, Bali, June 4, 2011. Three of the four teams sent successfully won three titles at once, the first prize, second, and fourth whereas the second place was achieved by Undhiksa.
Team of Ahmad Cahyadi and Anggit Priatmodjo succeed to achieve the first place by presenting the work entitled Sanitation Management as One of Soil Water Conservation Efforts in Karst Area at Gunung Kidul Region. Meanwhile, Muhammad Sufwandika successfully achieved the third place with a paper entitled Application of SIG Based on Celular Automa for Urban Growth Prediction Using High Resolution Remote Sensing Images: A Case Study of Semarang and the Vicinity Area. "The last Geography team occupied the fourth place. The second place is the only title escaped, won by the Undiksha Bali team," said Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni Faculty of Geography, Dr. Lutfi Muta’ali, S.Si., M.T, in a release that was sent on Monday (6/7).
Previously, national seminar on the theme Role of Education in Developing Human Resources Environmental Concern was also held with keynote speaker Chief Indonesia geographers association (IGI), Prof. Dr. Suratman, M.Sc., also Dean of Faculty of Geography. On the occasion, the book entitled Green School and Disaster Mitigation (Swaliba) was also introduced after being launched in advance in celebration of Earth Day and Environment 2011 in the Faculty.
