Sticking to the mission of organizing a qualified Graduate Program and to educate and empower the nation, maintain national integration and international vision, and improve transparent, sustainable and qualified management, Faculty of Biology, Universitas Gadjah Mada gives training for prospective Graduate Program students. The training that lasts for three days from 7 to 9 June 2011 is followed by 73 participants.
Dr. Rina Sri Kasiamdari, chairman of the training committee, explained that the 73 participants came from Temanggung, Magelang, Bantul, Sleman and others. They are teachers who get scholarship to continue Master program at Biology Department of UGM. "In addition to getting the material in class, participants will get materials outside class, such as in Wanagama forest, Sundak Beach, Baron Beach and several laboratories in the faculty," she said in the auditorium of the Faculty, Tuesday (7/6).
Rina Sri Kasiamdari hoped that the training will improve the research quality of participants in order to sustain education, advancement of science, technology and art as well as to strengthen national culture. Besides the introduction of material of Biology Master program, participants receive materials about Ecology and Conservation, Microbiology, Zoology, Botany, Genetics and Molecular Biology and Bioscience materials.
"Therefore, the training is intended to improve community service, based on sense of responsibility for community interests," Rina said.
Some experts attending to provide material are Dr. Retno Peni Sancayaningsih, M. Sc, Dr. Ir. Cahyono Agus Dwi Koranto, M.Agr.Sc, Drs. Langkah Sembiring, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dr. L. Hartanto Nugroho, M.Agr.Sc, Dr. Endang Semiarti, M.S., M. Sc and others.
