As many as 39 teams of UGM Student Creativity Program succeeded to pass monitoring and evaluation (M&E) program conducted by Directorate of Higher Education. Therefore, the 39 teams will go forward to present their work in the 24th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS), which will be held from July 18 to 23 at Hasanuddin University, Makassar.
Head of Sub Directorate of Student Administration and Development, Directorate of Student Affairs UGM, Basuki, S.I.P, said that in Student Creativity Program in 2010, UGM sent as many as 939 proposals. Of the number, 290 proposals managed to get funding from Directorate of Higher Education and 34 of them went through to PIMNAS 2011. "There are 350 teams from several universities in Indonesia qualified for PIMNAS, 34 of them are from UGM," he explained on Monday (27/6) at the office of Directorate of Student Affairs UGM.
Basuki said the number increases compared to the year 2009. At that time, UGM sent 766 proposals and 34 went through to PIMNAS. "The number of proposals submitted and qualified for the PIMNAS increased compared to last year," he said.
On the readiness for the upcoming PIMNAS, Basuki said that UGM is preparing students by providing a variety of briefing and soft skills materials. "We prepare students as best as possible. The expectation in PIMNAS this year is that UGM can retain the overall championship title that was earned last year," he expressed his hope.
The thirty-four teams that are qualified for the PIMNAS this year consist of 15 teams of entrepreneurship, 6 teams of community service, 4 teams of research, 8 teams of application of technology and 6 teams of written ideas.
