Faculty of Agricultural Technology of Universitas Gadjah Mada organized a company joint visit with the Osaka City University to PT Sari Husada in Kemudo, Klaten. The event took place on June 27, 2011 from 08:00 until 11:00 hours. The joint visit is one of the activities of Prof. Masaharu Ota and twenty students of Osaka City University in Yogyakarta for four days, Saturday, June 25, 2011 until Tuesday, June 28, 2011. The implementation of international lecture and series of other activities are undertaken by lecturers and students of the Department of Agroindustrial Technology of UGM, in particular the Production Systems Laboratory.
Prof. Masaharu Ota is a professor of Osaka City University in the field of operations management, innovation management, manufacturing strategy, and computerization of operations management.Prof. Masaharu Ota and the twenty students are in the laboratory operations management.
During his visit, Prof. Masaharu Ota and his students want to observe some of the industry or company in terms of operations management aspect. This was done to jointly learn, compare, and discuss the operations management of Indonesia and Japan. After visiting the Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing in Jakarta and Omron Indonesia in Bekasi, Prof. Masaharu Ota and students visited the PT Sari Husada in Klaten.
The delegation was welcomed at the gazebo of PT Sari Husada and they listened to the presentation of PT Sari Husada given by Baruno Dewo Tirto, the Plant Manager. The presentation focused on operations management activities at PT Sari Husada related with the fields that attract them to learn in this visit. Ota discusses with PT Sari Husada about operations management at PT Sari Husada.
Dr. Kuncoro Harto Widodo, S.T.P., M. Eng., coordinator of the events said: "The company visit was conducted to observe the comparison of Indonesian and Japanese companies, particularly in terms of operations management. It is hoped that the exchange of knowledge and discussion will be going on between both parties, especially the students to broaden their insight.”
At the end of the presentation there are discussion sessions where the OCU students asked about PT Sari Husada. Six UGM students involved in this activity also had discussions regarding the comparison of Indonesian and Japanese companies.
