Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), once again, wins the Archival Management Unit Competition held by the Ministry of National Education Year 2011. Earlier, in 2007 UGM also became the best manager unit in the same competition. Head of UGM Archive, Drs. Machmoed Effendhie, M. Hum., said after becoming the winner in 2007, UGM was not allowed to join the competition and only be given the opportunity to re-participate in the year 2011. "The competition is organized by the Ministry of National Education with the assessment team consisting of the Ministry and ANRI," said Machmoed on Monday (22/8).
He mentioned that this year’s competition is followed by 17 universities, one institute, and three polytechnics in Indonesia. Dimensions/elements of assessment include institutional, human resources, systems/guidelines, facilities, archive/documents, filing, archive service, archive maintenance, and archive depreciation. The assessment system is done in two stages. In the first phase, the First Assessment Team validates and observes the ‘fit and properness’ of the unit to enter the competition. "Well, the units that manage to pass the validation will be re-assessed by the Second Assessment Team," he explained.
In the competition UGM is represented by the Faculty of Animal Science, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Law and Governance Affairs, Sub-division Administration and Household Affairs, Office of the Executive Secretary, Directorate of Human Resources, Directorate of Asset Management and Maintenance, Kinanti Joint Records Center, and UGM Archive.
The First Assessment Team of the Ministry conducted the validation at UGM on 28 and 29 July 2011. Having passed the first validation, UGM was assessed by the Second Assessment Team from ANRI and the Ministry on August 10, 2011.
