In implementing its vision and mission, Universitas Gadjah Mada needs the support of surrounding communities. Meanwhile, the existence of UGM to surrounding communities, either directly or indirectly, surely gives positive impacts. Economically, there is plenty of lodging developing around the campus, also food stalls and other services.
Therefore, in order to further improve the quality of various services being offered around the campus, UGM on Wednesday afternoon, August 24, 2011, invited a number of chiefs of RT/RW neighbourhood community in the Pogung, Sendowo, and Barek areas. Together with the community leaders, UGM held a discussion to seek for input related to the quality of lodgings and cuisines served by the community around the campus. "This is what we are trying to do, to raise the quality of lodgings and cuisines around the UGM campus," said Vice Rector for Alumni Affairs and Business Development, Prof. Ir. Atyanto Dharoko, M. Phil., Ph.D., at Grha Sabha Pramana.
Atyanto Dharoko conveyed that the program has been informed to the Sleman Regent and the Head of Depok sub-district and this was well received. With this program, UGM hopes to become a pilot project for the quality lodgings and food stalls as well as services. "Of course, the lodgings and food stalls should meet the comfortable, safe, clean, healthy and affordable criteria," he said.
The event of the Community Service Gathering within the framework of the 62nd Anniversary of UGM was attended by Anniversary Chairman and core committee, UGM Executive Secretary as well as directors.
