On the first working day after the long holiday, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held an event to celebrate the Eid. The event at the Hall of UGM Main Office on Monday (5/9) was attended by the Executive Boards of University, Faculties and units, as well as teaching and academic staff of UGM.
Attending also on the occasion were Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Amien Rais; Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D.; Senior Vice Rector for Academic, Research, and Community Service, Prof. Dr. Retno Sunarminingsih, M.Sc.Apt., Senior Vice Rector for Administration, Planning, Development, and Human Resources, Ir. Adam Pamudji Rahardjo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Information System and Finance, Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., Akt., M. Com., Vice Rector for Alumni and Business Development, Prof. Ir. Atyanto Dharoko, M. Phil., Ph.D., Caretaker Chairman of Council of Professors, Prof. Dr. Siti Muslimah Widyastuti, M.Sc., and Prof. Dr. Ir. Susamto Somowiyarjo, M.Sc.
In addition, there were Executive Secretary, Director of Academic Administration, Director of Human Resources, Director of Student Affairs, Director of Maintenance and Asset Management, Head of Legal Affairs and Governance, Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Head of Office of International Affairs, Head of Library, Head of Campus Security Unit, Deans and Deputy Deans at UGM.
In the gathering, all attendees shook each other’s hands, asking for forgiveness from each other which is the tradition in Indonesia during the Eid. On the occasion, the Rector also delivered a speech. As the leader of UGM, the Rector admitted there have been less favourable statements or actions being made for UGM academic community. "Therefore, I conveyed my apology for any mistakes done in the past. May Allah always guide us and bless all our steps," the Rector said.
