Four students of Faculty of Forestry UGM joining the International Forestry Students Association’s Local Committee will attend the 2nd Asia Pacific Forestry Week 2011 which will take place from 7th – 12th November in Beijing – China. The biennial event discussing the issue of forestry in the Asia Pacific region is attended by approximately 1,500 participants from the Asia Pacific region, which consists of Government agencies, NGOs, academicians and stakeholders related to forestry.
The four students are Adi Ganga (BDH ’05), Binsar Liem Sihotang (KSDH ’09), Lina Farida Jihadah (KSDH ’07) and Metia Febrita Putri Lembasi (THH ’05). "We are delighted to join in this event, because following this event means getting a chance to improve knowledge, experience and networking among professionals in forestry and also Asia Pacific forestry students," Binsar Liem Sihotang said, Monday (7/11), in a release.
Binsar said that many events will be held in the biennial meeting held between the UN FAO in collaboration with the Asia Forest Network and the Asia Forest Partnership. For those who represent the Asia Pacific region, this event has become very meaningful because this forum will determine the future of forests in Asia Pacific. "As a young man, I feel lucky to be able to attend this event. Hopefully, our presence in Beijing since November 5, 2011 can provide a meaningful contribution to this event to meet expectations both today and in the future," Binsar said.
