At its 42nd Anniversary, Faculty of Animal Science of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) tries to realize the vision and mission to be excellent, independent and dignified Faculty in implementing international education and industry of animal science on the spirit of Pancasila by prioritizing national interest and prosperity. The Anniversary takes the theme "Animal Husbandry as a Drive for Populist Economy". "Various activities are held in the Anniversary this time, including the National Workshop on Policy Synergy of Disadvantaged Regions Development on 3 November 2011 in cooperation with Ministry for Development of Disadvantaged Regions,” Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tri Yuwanta, S.U., said in the Auditorium of the Faculty on Thursday (10/11), reading the annual report.
In a series of anniversary’s events, the Faculty signed a Memorandum of cooperation with Ministry of Development for Disadvantaged Regions and Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health in order to build and jointly develop the field of Biological Resources. The development is mainly in the field of Biological Resources, particularly the development of animal husbandry in disadvantaged areas.
The report revealed an increase of 20% in the number of undergraduates. Meanwhile, Faculty of Animal Science this year received as many as 228 new students. A significant increase also occurred for S2 and S3 students. "To accelerate the study period from undergraduate to master degree, Faculty of Animal Science UGM has enrolled its 14 students in excellent scholarship of Fast Track Master program organized by Directorate of Higher Education," he said.
The peak of the Anniversary was marked by the launching of a historical book entitled "42 Years Working and Serving the Nation". The book distributed to the invited guests contains the development of Faculty of Animal Science of UGM in all sides, institutional, academic, facilities, infrastructure and human resources, from 10 November 1969 – 2011. In addition, the Dean handed Certificates of Appreciation over to the management of Archival Unit of Faculty of Animal Science, which has contributed positively by becoming the Best Archival Management Unit in the competition held by Ministry of National Education in 2011.
