800 UGM Students Received Bidik Misi Scholarship - Phase II

As many as 800 UGM students received Education Scholarship for Outstanding and Disadvantaged Students (Bidik Misi). The delivery was done symbolically by Director of Student Affairs, Drs. Haryanto, M.Sc., to 5 recipients, Wednesday (23/11) at Grha Sabha Pramana UGM.


In 2011, UGM’s quota for Bidik Misi scholarship is 1,450 students, divided into three phases. In the first stage (7/11), the scholarship was given to 500 students, the second stage (23/11) was given to 800 students and the third phase is for 150 students.


Director of Student Affairs, Drs. Haryanto, M.Sc., said there is an increasing number of scholarship recipients than the previous year which was only 500 recipients. "In the year 2011, there is additional quota by 950 recipients. The increase is nearly 200%," he said.


Student recipients of Bidik Misi scholarship are automatically exempted from all tuition fees. In addition, the students get allowance of 600,000 rupiah each month.

"UGM in a year manages about 30 billion of scholarship’s funds for nine thousand students. The scholarship proves that UGM remains to have populist commitment," he said in front of students.


On that occasion, Haryanto scholarship recipients to learn better and have a strong desire to achieve a good GPA. "Being recipient of this scholarship is a gift. Therefore, I would like to ask the students who have been selected as scholarship recipients to have the confidence to learn well," he expressed his hope.
