Denta Paramitha, a study group from Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada, successfully held the final round of national scientific writing competition entitled the National Dentistry Research Competition (NDRC), Saturday (26/11). This activity is one of events in the Depa’s Infection (Denta Paramitha’s Science Festival and Competition) series held for 3 days from November 25-27, 2011. The Activity Field Chairman, Osa Amila, said that earlier on November 25, 2011 they held Basic Dentistry Olympics for high schools in Yogyakarta and Central Java.
"These are followed by the holding of the Open Lecture with the theme of Tissue Engineering on Sunday, November 27, 2011," said Osa on Monday (5/12).
Osa said the activity with the theme Advancing Sciences through Research and Spirit of Solidarity was followed by eight universities, including the University of Jember with six teams, the University of Andalas (2), Airlangga University (5), the Hangtuah University (1), Brawijaya University (1), Hassanudin University (1), Universitas Gadjah Mada (2), Mahasaraswati University (7), and Jendral Ahmad Yani University (1).
"All 26 teams sent abstracts of their writing. Later, as many as 10 best abstracts are qualifed to the finals," he explained.
The first winner of the competition is Hendri Permana Jaya and team from the University of Jember, the second place was achieved by Bonytasari Wibowoningrum and team from University of Jember. Still another team from the University of Jember, Fatkhur Rizqi and team, became third winner.
Osa added that the Competition is expected to foster the spirit of research, facilitating the development of research among dental students and foster the spirit of research in dentistry.
"Research spirit instilled at college will foster a good climate for the development of dentistry in Indonesia in the coming years," said Osa.
Present as juries in the competition are Prof. Dr. drg. Regina Titi Christinawati, M. Sc, Prof. Dr. drg. Widowati Siswomihardjo, M.S., drg. Supriatno, M. Kes, Ph.D., drg. Ivan Arie Wahyudi, M. Kes, Ph.D., and drg. Rosa Amalia, M. Kes. The first, second and third winners are each awarded a trophy from UGM Rector and Rp2,500,000 in cash, trophy from Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry trophy and Rp2 million in cash and from Denta Paramitha and money worth Rp1,500,000.
