Indonesia’s development in the next 10 years should be done through community empowerment. This is conducted starting from the grass-root level by contributing significantly to community. Student movement also contributes to building the knowledge-based society and is directly involved in building villages.
That was raised in the discussion Student Movement: Overseeing Indonesia in the Next 10 Years. The discussion that took place at the Center for Pancasila Studies invited activist from National Students Movement of Indonesia (GMNI), Haryo Kunto Wibisono, Regional Head of KAMMI Yogyakarta, Kartika Nur Rakhman, PMII, Muhammad Muhyidin, and Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia, Wandran Irvan. This discussion is moderated by Hendro Muhaimin (researcher at Center for Pancasila Studies) and opened by Head of the Center, Drs. Sindung Tjahyadi. M. Hum.
Muhammad Muhyidin said that Pancasila should remain part of Indonesia considering the pluralism in Indonesia. Therefore, the problems in Indonesia should be seen through the eyes of Pancasila given the diverse conditions of Indonesia’s society. "Unfortunately, there are many bad people who make the Pancasila look bad," he said.
In the meantime, Haryo Kunto Wibisono assesses the weakness of the government and the student movement that have not learned from the community. The GMNI activist added, existing knowledge in the community is not taken into account, while, in fact, such knowledge is very important.
Kartika Nur Rakhman explained the importance of building and empowering communities significantly. Indonesia’s development can be done by strengthening the Indonesian economy based on agriculture. "The strong economic foundation through farming is one of the ways to build Indonesia," she said.
