YOGYAKARTA –Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D., and Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business of UGM, Prof. Dr. Marwan Asri, M.B.A, inaugurated Pertamina Tower building on Tuesday (20/12). The seven-storey building that was built at a cost of 19 billion rupiah is located just outside the entrance of the Faculty. As one symbol of pride of the Faculty, the building is dedicated to support teaching and research activities of students and lecturers.
Marwan Asri said that construction of the building had been planned since 3-4 years ago. It is accomplished this year in collaboration with various organisations, including PT. Pertamina, PT. Medco Energy, Bank Mandiri, Bank BNI, Djarum Foundation, and PT. Polytron, in addition to internal funding from the Faculty. "The funding was from internal departments in the Faculty which cooperated each other to set aside money optimally to construct this building," Marwan said.
Marwan said that the Pertamina Tower actually has eight floors. The top floor or roof garden will be used for student activity called Student Club. "Students can use it to learn and surf on the Internet. Furthermore, we also provided self-service canteen," he added.
While explaining that the architect who built the building is a graduate of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Marwan thanked those who have helped and supported the completion of Pertamina Tower. He hoped that this new building would provide considerable benefits in the future. "Hopefully, this building can provide substantial benefits to students and the nation," he said.
The Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D., sent congratulations on the inauguration of the new building. The Rector also specifically expressed appreciation to external groups who care about advancement of education by assisting the construction of the new building. He hoped the building can support the educational progress of the nation. "We are a big family of Indonesia that will advance this nation. This building shows togetherness, blessings, and progress for all of us," he said.
After inaugurating the new building, the Rector and some of the invited guests from Pertamina, Medco, Bank Mandiri and Bank BNI had the opportunity to see firsthand the facilities and condition of the building in each floor.
