YOGYAKARTA – New Dean of Faculty of Medicine of UGM was inaugurated. She is dr. Rr. Titi Savitri Prihatiningsih, M.A, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., who was appointed to replace Prof. dr. Ghufron Mukti Ali, M.Sc., Ph.D., who became Deputy Minister of Health. Therefore, Titi Savitri who previously served as vice dean of academic affairs will work for 10 months, continuing the previous dean tenure which will end in October 2012.
After the inauguration, Friday (30/12), the lady born in Jakarta on July 5, 1966 said that she would continue the programs aready implemented by Prof. Ali Ghufron previously. However, the focus of the program in the near future is to reform and restructure human resources at the Faculty. It is due to the number of lecturers at the Faculty that is not equal to the need. "With only 300 people to handle 31 departments, it is becoming too hard. We will make a proposal to inaugurate non- tenured lecturers from the academic hospital," she said.
She added that ideally the number of lecturers at the Faculty reaches 700-800 people. Moreover, the quota of new students has increased from previously 300 students to 400 students since 2009. "You can imagine with minimal number of lecturers and quite significant number of students, we’re very overwhelmed. In the near future we will increase the number of non-tenured lecturers," the doctor graduating from this Faculty in 1993 said.
UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D., suggested Titi Savitri to improve learning in the Faculty. According to the Rector, research and community service have been running well at the Faculty. "Over the next 10 months, areas of learning need our attention," he said.
