A total of 74 national and multinational companies on the upcoming 4-5 February 2012 are scheduled to participate in the 10th UGM Career Days. They will follow the event that was held by UGM’s ECC at UGM Graha Sabha Pramana. The Career Days - this time raised the theme Fight Your Fate – is the tenth since first held in 2007. According to the Director of the ECC, Nurhadi, with the theme it is expected to become a message of passion for the job seekers that will be struggling to get their foothold later through job fairs.

"From year to year, the number of participants increases. If in the early days there were only about 30 participants, now there is up to 74 participants in UGM Career Days," said Nurhadi, Thursday (26/1).

Nurhadi added the 74 participants in Career Days will offer as many as 636 job positions. Several national and multinational companies that will participate, among others, are PT Bank Mandiri Tbk, PT PLN, PT.BNI Tbk, PT.BTN Tbk, PT. Astra International, PT.BRI Tbk, PT.Freeport Indonesia, PT.HM Sampoerna, Tbk etc.

"The average number of job seekers in Career Days UGM reach up to 10-15 thousand visitors who come from outside UGM and Yogyakarta, such as UI, ITB, Unsoed, etc.," explained the alumnus of UGM Department of Geodesy.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of ECC, Deka Isnadi, added that Career Days will be a meeting place for alumni with many companies. Many companies mean many vacancies, thus, there will be a significant advantage for alumni seeking for a job.

"By following the job fairs in Yogyakarta, they do not need to go to other cities to apply for a job, so they will save costs," said Deka.

Another advantage is for students and universities. University can get an overview as well as information about the strengths and weaknesses of their students when dealing with work market. At the same time, educators can prepare their students to be better prepared to face work.

One of the convenience offered in UGM Career Days job fair, said Deka, is applying online. Online job application allows jobseekers who want to apply to use the Internet to submit the job application. Therefore,  the job seeker will come not only to submit application and meet the administrative requirements but also invited to attend the next recruitment selection process, such as psychological test or interview.

"This online job application will facilitate the recruitment process, so, later on, the applicants at Career Days can immediately conduct the interview, because they have already applied online," said Deka
