In order to improve research and increase university’s role in improving research quality in agriculture in Indonesia, this time Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in cooperation with Australia’s University of Tasmania (UTas) and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) held Scientific Paper-writing Workshop. The Workshop for 4 days (6-9/2) has the purpose to increase the writing skills of forestry and agriculture researchers in Indonesia for scientific journals. The workshop is supported by the Crawford Fund as sponsor.
The workshop is followed by 15 participants from UGM and 10 from outside UGM. They are from graduate school, young researchers and lecturers. Participants have many benefits from the workshop in terms of writing skills in order that their work can be published in one international journal in less than 6 months since the workshop ended.
The workshop is entitled Concept Planning and Key Contribution; Target Journal and Impact Factor; Outlines for developing Logic and building Structure and Content; Figures and Tables; Introduction and Conclusion; Discussion; Abstract and Title; Authorship and Acknowledgment. To communicate research findings in one journal can be used as a benchmark to evaluate scientists and findings by their colleagues and institution. Publishing in a journal with high impact will ensure that research findings are easily accessible by scientific community related to studies and in the effort to make agricultural and forestry improvements in the country, the region and the world. In the workshop participants also produce social media blog in 300 words which can be downloaded here (Faculty of Forestry and Faculty of Agriculture UGM).
