The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Constitutional Court (MK) in cooperation with UGM through the Center for Pancasila Studies (PSP) along with a number of universities in Indonesia will again hold the Congress of Pancasila. The event planned to be held on May 31 and June 1, 2012 at UGM Senate Hall is the 4th Congress. "On this Fourth Congress of Pancasila, UGM again becomes host after previously hosted the Congress of Pancasila I in 2009," said the committee chairman, Prof. Dr. Sudjito, on Wednesday (23/5) in the office of the Center. Meanwhile, the second and third Congresses of Pancasila respectively in 2010 and 2011 were held in Denpasar, Bali, and Airlangga University, Surabaya.
Sudjito said that the 4th Pancasila Congress aims to increase awareness, responsibility, and the active role of all components in order to institutionalize the values of Pancasila. In addition, it is intended to increase knowledge and understanding of the strategy of Pancasila values institutionalization in public life.
Prof. Sutaryo, team director, said that the Congress will present Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr. Moh. Mahfud M.D., S.H., as keynote speaker. In addition, there will be several other speakers, among others, Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, Prof. Dr. Syafii Ma’arif, Drs. H.Lukman Hakim Syaifuddin, Prof. Dr. Sri Edi Swasono, and Dr. (HC) Siswono Yudohusodo. "The day before the Congress there will be a general course of Pancasila for the public," he added. It will present a number of speakers, such as Dr. Yudi Latif, Prof. Pratikno, and Prof. Edy Suwandi Hamid.
