Universitas Gadjah Mada and Indiana University agreed to establish cooperation. This was marked by the signing of the MoU by President of Indiana University, Michael McRobbie, and UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., who was accompanied by elected Rector, Prof. Pratikno, Friday (25/5), in the Leadership Conference Room, UGM Main Office.
The Rector appreciates the delegation’s visit and hopes to explore cooperation possibilities in the academic field to be done together. The cooperation is expected to foster the spirit to further strengthen the synergy between the two. "This partnership is expected to provide benefits not only for UGM, but also for Indiana University. This can absolutely create solutions to solve various problems of the nation and the world," he explained.
The elected Rector, Prof. Pratikno, on the occasion said that going forward, UGM will further increase the number of exchanges of students and staff to study in the United States and Europe, including at Indiana University. "Since the arrival of President Obama to Indonesia some time ago, the chance of Indonesia-US cooperation is more open. We also hope that Indiana University is one of UGM strong partners in education," Pratikno said.
On the other hand, the President of Indiana University said that Indiana University opens opportunities of cooperation for student exchanges, both in the undergraduate and graduate programs as well as for faculty. "We open the opportunity for students and faculty who want to take up studies at Indiana University," McRobbie said.
McRobbie added, going forward Indiana University will further increase the frequency of student exchanges with Indonesia. "Going forward, we aim to increase the number of our students to study in Indonesia, one of them is at UGM, and vice versa," he said.
The meeting was attended by UGM Executive Secretary, Drs. Djoko Moerdiyanto, M.A., Assistant of Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Dr. Rachmat Sriwijaya, Head of Office of International Affairs, Rio Rini Diah Moehkardi, M.A., and a number of officials.
