Results of the State University National Selection Test (SNMPTN) will be announced on 28 May 2013. Due to the high number (779,000) of students registering at the SNMPTN to compete to get one of the 130-150 thousands of seats in all Indonesian state universities, most of them will not be able to make it through the SNMPTN.
Academic Director of UGM, Dr. agr. Ir. Sri Peni Wastutiningsih, said the SNMPTN participants who did not pass the test would still be able to go through State University Joint Selection Test (SBMPTN) and Independent Selection. According to Peni, UGM would conduct all enrollment mechanisms this year.
“For SBMPTN, UGM will accept 1,997 students and Independent Test 1,331 students,” Peni said on Monday (20/5).
Peni added that SBMPTN registration had started on 13 May 2013 and would end 7 June 2013 with the test from 18 – 19 June 2013 and announcement on 12 July 2013. SBMPTN UGM complies with the stipulation from the Central Committee of SBMPTN; link http://sbmptn.or.id.
There are two mechanisms for UGM Independent Test for undergraduate programme: Penelusuran Bibit Unggul (PBU) and Ujian Tulis (Utul). The PBU includes PBU Tidak Mampu, PBU Berprestasi, PBU Olahraga and Seni, and PBU Kemitraan.
Peni said the PBU mechanism is dedicated to less fortunate people and those from the most remote, outlaying, and the most underdeveloped regions as well as excellent students who did not pass the SNMPTN and SBMPTN tests. Graduates from SMA/MA/SMK/MAK and high schoo equivalent graduating in 2013 may enroll in this type.
“Registrations for PBUTM, PBUB, and PBOS are from 20 May 2013 up to 20 June 2013 while PBUK from 20 – 31 May. Results will be announced on 31 July 2013,” Peni explained.
Registrations for Written Test in Independent Test will be from 20 May – 1 July 2013 while the test itsel is on 7 July 2013 and announcement on 31 July 2013. Graduates from SMA/SMK/MA/MAK year 2013, 2012 and 2011 from within Indonesia or abroad or graduates from equivalent exams year 2013, 2012 and 2011 may register online through http://um.ugm.ac.id. Tests will be conducted in 4 cities, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Pekanbaru, and Balikpapan.
Peni said that it’s interesting that this year UGM would give extensive opportunities for candidates because the Written Test for undergraduate programme is done along with the Diploma Written Test Phase 1. Participants in each test group (Saintek, Soshum, Campuran) may choose a maximum of 3 study programmes in undergraduate (Sarjana) or Diploma levels.
“So, applicants may choose up to 3 undergraduate study programmes or 3 diploma programmes or a mix of the two,” Peni said. In addition, UGM accepts students in International Undergraduate Program (IUP) which covers only certain study programmes. Tourism, English, Computer, Chemistry, Medicine, International Relations, Law, Accounting, Business and Economics.
