Meilani Andriyati, student of Civil Engineering in the Vocational School UGM class of 2011, represents Indonesia in the 5th Asian Students Collaboration Encouragement Program in Technology at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. From 14 – 23 March 2014, Meilani joined her fellow students from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Chulalongkorn University (CU) Thailand, and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), to learn technology together that relate to public infrastructure, transportation, nature, humans, and machines.
“The theme of the programme is Draw Future with Your Hands where we visited corporations and laboratories, such as National Institute for Enviromental Studies, Pubic Works Research Institute, and Bureau of Sewerage Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Then we had discussions and presentations,” said Meilani on Tuesday (1/4).
Meilani said the purpose of the 5th ASCENT is to establish relations and bring together Asian students by enhancing communication internationally. “We also learned technology in Asia to improve our contribution to helping resolve problems in respective countries,” she said. “Obviously, this will strengthen the ties between Asian universities and promote student exchange,” Meilani concluded.
