The Javanese language is one of the Indonesian native languages that has to be preserved. Unfortunately, many of the young generation are not interested in studying it, they are more into Japanese and Korean languages.
This has sparked some students from Faculty of Engineering UGM to make an attractive learning media to learn the language. Ika Wahyu Fitriyani, Dwi Budianto, Irwan Hanung Septianto, and Vempi Satriya Adi Hendrawan invite people to learn the Javanese alphabets through puppets at Taman Aksara Jawa (Takwa).
“Up to this time, Javanese language learning is done conventionally through books and pictures to be hung on walls, thus very few learning media to attract student’s interest,” she said on Friday (11/6) at UGM.
Ika hoped the attractive learning media in the form of caterpillar puppet and key-ring holders would help increase student’s interest in learning the language.
