Some 162 students from vocational schools across Java have participated in the engineering skills competition held at UGM Vocational School from 24-25 February 2015.
There are five categories to be competed: CADD, metrology, automotive, Computer Numerical Control programming, and pneumatic. “In each category, participants have to do written tests and practices,” said competition chairman, Ibnu Rachman, on Wednesday (25/2) on campus.
Competition mentor, Mohammad Samsudin , S.T., explained this was a test for the students prior to joining the Student Competence Contest this year. Also, it is to measure the quality and competence level before the students go to the next level of education.
Secretary of Mechanical Engineering study programme, Radian Krisna Putra, S.T., M.Eng., said the winners would be awarded a prize in cash, trophies, and certificates. There are possibilities also that they can be admitted at the Vocational School without a test.
