The Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fisipol UGM), once again held the annual UGM Ajisaka Festival 2025 on May 23–24.
The festival series, themed “Gaman Kamulyan: Echoing Hopes for Sustainability,” began with the uploading of Janamejaya’s short videos and the registration of competitions in six categories.
It continued with road shows to various campuses in Indonesia, a work exhibition, and concluded with the Candradimuka peak event.
Fazila Nayyara Dahayu, the Head of Public Affairs, stated that this year’s UGM Ajisaka Festival is a manifestation of students’ concern for the preservation of the earth and the life within it.
This particularly focuses on flora and fauna, whose fate is increasingly concerning.
“With the tagline ‘Unite Dreams, Show Action, Green the Earth’ echoed by the Ajisaka Festival, it serves as a commitment to realize a greener earth,” Dahayu said at Fisipol UGM on Monday (Jun. 2).
She explained that the entire series of UGM Ajisaka Festival 2025 activities was held from Feb. 17, 2025, for roadshows and Janamejaya short videos.
Registration and submission of competition works took place from Mar. 1 to Apr. 23, 2025. There are six competition categories, including Sadewa (advertising), Prahasta (public relations), Kresna (filmmaking), Nakula (research), Arjuna (journalism), and Dewi Sinta (entrepreneurship).
“Overall, UGM Ajisaka Festival 2025 successfully involved 151 teams from 38 universities with a total of 150+ submitted works,” she stated.
The judges of the UGM Ajisaka Festival 2025 provided objective observations and evaluations based on specific criteria, assessing the quality and originality of the works.
The event concluded with a Work Exhibition held on May 23–24, 2025, and the Candradimuka peak event on May 24, 2025, at the West Balcony of Fisipol UGM.
“This Work Exhibition was themed ‘Alas Swakarya,’ which means the environment as a self-created work and is not limited to green ecosystems but also includes social and economic environments,” she explained.
Dahayu stated that there were 72 works in the exhibition, comprising those of finalists, UGM Communication Science students, and artists outside UGM.
Meanwhile, the Candradimuka event consisted of the opening of Candradimuka, a talk show titled ‘Tutur Tinular: Realizing Green Economy through Digital Media,’ a review of finalists’ works, and an awarding night.
This awarding night also served as the closing ceremony of the Ajisaka Festival 2025.
According to Dahayu, teams from various universities also enlivened the championship stage at the Ajisaka Festival 2025 competition.
Those who participated included teams from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Universitas Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Udayana, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, Petra Christian University, and Bina Nusantara University.
A performance from Fisipol Music Forum also enlivened the peak night.
