The Digital Intelligence Course (MKKD), the collaborative course between the UGM Center for Digital Society (CfDS), the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Siberkreasi, and the Ministry of Education and Culture, has concluded with success.
The course is one of the efforts to increase digital literacy and bridge the skills gap by improving the quality of digital talent for the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
The 2023 MKKD has been conducted online since August and has attracted 4,645 participants from various backgrounds, including students and the general public from all over Indonesia.
The “Exploring the Potential of Talents & Careers in the Digital Era” talk show marked the end of the program in 2023, featuring speakers Eyla A. Maranny (fresh graduate program coordinator, Ministry of Communication), Firya Q. Abisono (communication science lecturer at UNS & adjunct researcher at CfDS), and Muhammad Andriansa (Algorand community champion, Algorand Indonesia). The center’s deputy secretary executive, Iradat Wirid, moderated the discussion.
Discussing the improved quality of digital talents, Eyla A. Maranny emphasized the role of all parties, including the government.
The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, through programs such as the National Digital Literacy Movement, Digital Talent Scholarship, and Digital Entrepreneurship Academy, strives to create competitive human resources to fill in today’s digital career demand.
“Since 2018, the ministry has initiated programs and training targeting all segments to support digital transformation in Indonesia. We also embrace all parties to create a strong digital talent ecosystem. Hopefully, this will open up opportunities for digital talents to compete,” explained Maranny on Monday, November 27.
Muhammad Andriansa, on this occasion, highlighted the collaboration between the industrial world and stakeholders, particularly those of the Penta helix nature, to improve the quality of digital talents in Indonesia.
“Collaboration involving industry, academia, government, and others will help expand the audience and impact of the program more widely and comprehensively,” Andriansa said.
Firya Abisono argued that all training programs should be objective to create competent digital talents in Indonesia, and the MKKD is an alternative platform for the public to learn the digital skills needed today.
“MKKD can be one of the right means to teach knowledge outside of formal education, which are believed to support the career acceleration of participants in the digital transformation era,” Abisono explained.
Anggia, a Parahyangan Catholic University student who has participated in the Advanced Digital Intelligence Class: Digital Transformation and Elections with Election Corner in 2023, revealed that the material presented in this class has made her more critical in observing the course of the upcoming 2024 elections.
“This class excites me and is relevant to the 2024 elections. The material comes from instructors who are experts in politics,” said Anggia.
Arga Pribadi Imawan, the coordinator of the 2023 Digital Intelligence Course organizers, believes that digital literacy is crucial to master as Indonesians welcome the upcoming elections.
The knowledge and materials obtained by participants through this class are expected to help them navigate harmful content through 2024 and beyond.
