The Universitas Gadjah Mada Academic Hospital (RSA UGM) marked the peak of its 14th anniversary on Thursday (Apr. 2) at the 5th Floor Auditorium of RSA UGM. Entering its 14th year, RSA UGM has successfully improved the quality of its services and healthcare facilities.
In terms of patient care, the hospital has recorded a steady increase in patient numbers. Patients now come not only from the Special Region of Yogyakarta but also from East Java and even the northern coastal regions (Pantura), reflecting growing public trust in RSA UGM’s healthcare services. During this year’s anniversary, RSA UGM inaugurated an integrated cardiac operating room equipped with a perioperative cardiac ICU.
President Director of RSA UGM, Darwito, in his report, expressed his gratitude to all parties who have supported RSA UGM’s success over the past 14 years in delivering healthcare services to the public. Looking ahead, Darwito explained that RSA UGM plans to develop the Medical Center Tower and the Gadjah Mada Eye Center.
“We hope that construction can begin on July 1,” he said.

UGM Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, also delivered remarks at the event. On this occasion, she expressed her appreciation for the progress achieved by RSA UGM, noting that the hospital has moved beyond a growth phase and has demonstrated maturity in providing healthcare services.
She noted that RSA UGM’s innovation in offering cardiac surgery services reflects the hospital’s bold commitment to advancing healthcare.
“I believe this initiative not only enhances services but also opens opportunities for the development of innovative research in the cardiovascular field,” Professor Ova said.

The Rector added that collaboration among various stakeholders supporting RSA UGM is essential to achieving its long-term vision. She emphasized that, as an academic hospital, RSA UGM has a strong focus on education, which is a key asset in its development.
“The educational mission we uphold is a vital asset in guiding the hospital’s continued growth and excellence,” she explained.
In closing, Professor Ova expressed her appreciation for RSA UGM’s innovation in implementing the green hospital concept through its biogas installation program. She also expressed hope that RSA UGM will continue to adapt to advancements and remain innovative in the future.
“We hope RSA UGM will further enhance the quality of healthcare services, particularly in strengthening its contribution to the education of healthcare professionals,” she concluded.
