UGM and Bungo Regency in Jambi Province have agreed to strengthen their collaboration in education, research, training, community service, and human resources development.
Bungo Regent, Mashuri, mentioned that Bungo Regency had established cooperation with UGM five years ago. Previous collaborations included matters related to spatial planning and the Community Service Program (KKN).
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed with the UGM Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing regarding the development of regional health resources.
“With the extension of this MoU, it is expected that the collaboration with UGM will strengthen further to advance Bungo Regency,” he said after signing the MoU at the UGM campus on Tuesday (Dec. 6).
He further explained that Bungo Regency is located in the western part of Jambi Province, covering an area of 4,657 square kilometers. It consists of 143 villages, 12 urban neighborhoods, and 17 sub-districts, with a population of over 370,000, primarily engaged in palm oil and rubber farming.
UGM’s Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, welcomed the extended collaboration. She expressed gratitude for the trust given to UGM to establish this partnership.
“UGM cannot walk alone; it needs to have a network of collaborations with various parties, including local governments,” said the rector.
She hopes future collaboration between UGM and Bungo Regency will become more intense and robust.
“There has been collaboration on spatial planning, Community Service Program (KKN), and with the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing. We would be happy if this can be continued more systematically,” she explained.
