The UGM Faculty of Animal Science (Animal Science UGM) has been distributing free-boiled eggs to students taking their midterm exams.
The initiative aims to support students’ nutritional needs during the exam period, which runs for ten days from Sept. 30 to Oct. 9, 2024.
According to the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, Dr. Andriyani Astuti, the distribution of eggs is intended to help students maintain their weight and provide health benefits.
She highlighted that the nutrients and proteins in eggs can speed up recovery and promote heart health.
“We hope that by providing boiled eggs, students will feel calmer while taking their exams. Besides offering nutrition, eggs contain animal protein that is good for health,” she stated at the Faculty of Animal Science on Tuesday (Oct. 8).
The distribution, carried out by the faculty’s committee team, occurs each morning as a breakfast substitute. The aim is to help students feel more prepared and relaxed during their exams.
On Friday (Oct. 4), 336 boiled eggs were distributed to students, followed by 323 eggs on Monday (Oct. 7), 299 eggs on Tuesday (Oct. 8), and 300 eggs on Wednesday (Oct. 9).
One of the students, Priyo Adi, expressed his gratitude for the free boiled eggs, noting that they showed the faculty’s care for students during the exams.
“It was perfect timing to get a boiled egg. I hadn’t had breakfast yet,” said the student.
Bima and Miftah shared similar sentiments, adding that they were pleasantly surprised to receive boiled eggs just before their morning exam session.
