The Business Laboratory Community of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) won the overall championship at the 2024 National Student Competition in Business, Management, and Finance.
The competition, held in person at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) in Tangerang, saw UGM send four teams: Team Artemis in Investment Research, Team Assurify and Team Veritas in Investigative Financial Audit, and Team Cigrosys in Scientific Writing.
During the week-long competition from Jun. 24-29, 2024, all four teams advanced to the semifinals, with three reaching the grand finals.
Ultimately, two UGM teams, Team Artemis and Team Cigrosys, were declared National Best Teams I (gold medals). Team Assurify won the National Best Team II (silver medal) award.
Team Artemis consisted of Hafidh Firdaus Muzakk, Muhammad Rizqy Al Faris (Accounting), and Haniyah Nur Hasanah (Economics). Their research in Investment Research was titled “SIDO: Consistency Business with Quality.”
Team Cigrosys included Mohammad Agta Annafi’ Sugiyantoro (Economics) and Hasan Adi Nugraha (Cartography and Remote Sensing). Competing in Scientific Writing, their work was titled “CIGROSYS (Circular Green Solutions for Ecology System): Strategy for Utilizing Non-Productive Peatland Ex-Palm Oil through Vannamei Shrimp Farming.”
Team Assurify, competing in Investigative Financial Audit, presented a work titled “Analysis of Suspected Fraud in Hard Drive Procurement in a Banking Company.” The team consisted of Clara Alverina Laurensia (Accounting), Billy Hendriansyah (Public Sector Accounting), and Jeremy Christian Muward (Public Sector Accounting).
Director of Student Affairs at UGM, Dr. Sindung Tjahyadi, expressed gratitude and pride for the achievements of UGM’s teams in this 2024 competition. He hopes this success can be maintained and improved in future competitions.
Director Tjahyadi explained that this year’s competition featured five categories: Business Planning, Commercialization of Research and Appropriate Technology, Investment Research, Investigative Financial Audit, and Scientific Writing.
This national competition aims to evaluate students’ academic abilities and reasoning in their respective fields and foster partnerships between academia, business, and government.
“The theme this year is ‘Exploring Opportunities for Responsible Production and Consumption and Applying the Circular Economy in the Era of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 for Accelerating Inclusive and Sustainable National Economic Transformation within the Framework of Business, Management, and Finance.’ This theme is closely related to the 12th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG),” he said on the UGM campus Saturday (Jun. 29).
He noted that this proud achievement results from the hard work and dedication of the team members, supervising lecturers, and the UGM Business Laboratory Community. This success is expected to inspire and motivate other students to innovate and bring glory to Universitas Gadjah Mada nationally and internationally.
