In celebration of its 74th anniversary, Universitas Gadjah Mada organized a fishing competition for the UGM community and nearby residents at the Agrotechnology Innovation Center in Berbah, Sleman Regency.
Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation of the UGM Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Ali Awaludin, opened the competition. In his speech, he thanked the residents around UGM for enlivening this fishing competition.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to fish together,” Dr. Awaludin said on Saturday (December 2).
Bahari Suharto, the chair of the fishing competition committee, added that the competition categories included individuals who were only allowed to use one fishing rod and one hook. In this competition, 400 kg of fish were released, consisting of 250 kg of carp and 150 kg of tilapia. A total of 250 participants took part in this competition.
The determination of the winners is based on the order of the heaviest total weight of the fish. The committee selected three winners with prizes in the form of cash.
“For the 1st winner, they will receive 1 million, the 2nd winner 750 thousand, and the 3rd winner 500 thousand,” Suharto said.
The competition lasted for 3 hours, from 07.00 to 10.00 WIB. The release of the mascot fish marked the competition. The winners were Cak Nur (resident) as the 1st winner, Nanang (resident) as the 2nd winner, and Yuliantoko (UGM) as the 3rd winner.
