Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has successfully graduated 2,049 students in the undergraduate and applied bachelor programs for the first period of the 2024/2025 academic year. The graduates comprise 1,754 from the undergraduate program and 295 from the applied bachelor program.
The graduation ceremony took place over two days. On the first day, Wednesday (Nov. 20), it was held for graduates of the Faculties of Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Agriculture, Animal Science, Engineering, Agricultural Technology, and Vocational College.
On Thursday (Nov. 21), the second day, graduates from the Faculties of Economics and Business, Philosophy, Geography, Law, Social and Political Sciences, Cultural Sciences, Forestry, Natural Sciences, and Psychology participated in the ceremony.
The Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, congratulated all graduates earning academic degrees.
“The degrees awarded today mark a starting point for graduates to contribute to advancing national development,” said Professor Emilia at the Grha Sabha Pramana.
In her speech, Professor Emilia also shared updates from the 14th National Congress of the UGM Alumni Family (Munas Kagama), held in Jakarta from Nov. 14 to 17.
The congress elected Basuki Hadimuljono as Chair of the Kagama Central Board for the 2024-2029 term. Professor Emilia congratulated him and hoped the Geological Engineering alumnus and Head of the IKN Authority would carry out his responsibilities well.
Addressing the new Kagama members, Professor Emilia encouraged graduates to collaborate with the Kagama Central Board and actively contribute to national development while upholding morality and integrity.
“The undergraduate and applied bachelor graduates of this period are now part of the Kagama family. Through Kagama, you can build collaboration networks and contribute to educational and community service activities alongside your beloved alma mater,” she added.
Adella Dayinta, representing the graduates from the Faculty of Pharmacy, expressed gratitude and appreciation for her fellow graduates’ hard work. In her speech, Adella shared her experiences during the Community Service Program (KKN) in Liki, one of Papua’s outermost islands.
She highlighted the educational challenges faced by some communities, including children attending school with minimal supplies and wearing makeshift clothing. She urged her peers to continue making meaningful contributions while remaining humble and confident.
“We are here not only to celebrate our achievements but also to reflect on what we can give back to those around us,” she said.
Gatot Saptadi, Chair of the Kagama Regional Board for Yogyakarta, welcomed the graduates to Kagama and emphasized its role as a space for connection, camaraderie, and shared joy.
He encouraged graduates to strengthen communication and networking, innovate, and respond to societal changes.
“We are trained to excel, generate ideas, and respond innovatively to emerging challenges,” he concluded.
Details of the 2,049 Graduates
Of the 2,049 graduates, women accounted for 57% of the total. The average study duration for the undergraduate program was 4 years and 4 months, with the shortest being 3 years and 1 month. The average study duration for the applied bachelor program was 4 years and 1 month, with the shortest being 3 years and 10 months.
Muhammad Daffa Adiibah Sinapoy and Sanidheo Chandra Ramadhana from the Public Policy and Management program achieved the shortest study duration, completing their studies in 3 years, 1 month, and 14 days.
The average age of undergraduate graduates was 22 years, 6 months, and 16 days. The youngest graduate, Uphe Angelia Maitriani from the Actuarial Science program in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, completed her degree at 20 years, 3 months, and 9 days.
The average GPA for undergraduate graduates was 3.54, with 1,098 graduates (62.60%) earning honors (Cum Laude), 604 graduates (34.44%) earning Very Satisfactory distinctions, 29 graduates (1.65%) receiving Satisfactory ratings, and 23 graduates (1.31%) graduating without distinction.
Five graduates achieved the highest undergraduate GPA of 3.94: Muhammad Arga Fatthilla (Geological Engineering), Uphe Angelia Maitriani (Actuarial Science), Vania Clementine Lumbanbatu (Computer Science), Rabbani Nur Kumoro (Computer Science), and Juve Anthony (Chemistry).
For the applied bachelor program, Ayu Fatmawati from the Forest Management program in the Vocational College completed her studies in 3 years, 10 months, and 5 days. The youngest graduate, Maryam Jundiah Rahmah, from the Property Management program, finished at 21 years, 2 months, and 25 days.
The average age of applied bachelor program graduates was 22 years, 6 months, and 15 days. The average GPA for applied bachelor graduates was 3.68, with Nurul Pratiwi from the Health Information Management program earning the highest GPA of 3.98. Among the applied bachelor graduates, 91 graduates (30.85%) achieved honors (Cum Laude), 203 graduates (68.81%) earned Very Satisfactory distinctions, and one graduate (0.34%) received a Satisfactory rating.
