Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) attended the Asian Universities Science and Technology Innovation Forum 2024 at the Sheraton Hotel, Hong Kong, China.
The forum held on Jan. 27 and 28, 2024, was organized by the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
The main agenda of the forum was to allow the presidents of universities from China, Japan, and Asia to gather and share their insight on improving Asian universities’ attraction to global youth talent in a way that enhances scientific research, teaching, and internationalization.
On top of that, this forum also discusses strategies for cultivating, attracting, and retaining outstanding youth talents for scientific innovation and the development of inter-university exchange and cooperation.
As one of the attendees and keynote speakers at the forum, the UGM’s Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, delivered the topic on Community Development to Attract Global Youth Talents, which was further discussed with other university representatives in a roundtable discussion.
In this forum, UGM is delighted to have the opportunity to promote the university globally, widen its network, especially with more Asian universities, and deepen its existing collaboration with many of UGM’s close partner universities.
UGM also participated in a side event organized by JST, “Japan-ASEAN University Exchange Meeting,” on Jan. 27, 2024, at Kowloon Hotel, Hong Kong, China.
This meeting aimed to strengthen sustainable research partnerships through information sharing and opinion exchange between universities in Japan and ASEAN.
On a better note, UGM has many collaboration records with organizations under JST, such as research with SATREP, e-ASIA JRP, or student mobility under the SAKURA Exchange Program in Sciences.
Furthermore, by joining this meeting, UGM aims to boost the number of collaborations in research, student mobility, and other fields of higher education collaboration.
