The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Central Java has named HU, Director of Business Development at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), as a suspect in a corruption case involving fictitious cocoa procurement worth Rp7.4 billion, together with former President Director of PT Pagilaran, RG. The case stemmed from the procurement of cocoa raw materials for the Cacao Teaching and Learning Industries (CLTI) program in Batang, Central Java, in 2019.
Responding to HU’s designation as a suspect, UGM spokesperson Dr. I Made Andi Arsana emphasized that the university respects the ongoing legal process and upholds the presumption of innocence. “We respect the legal proceedings currently underway,” said Dr. Arsana on Wednesday (Aug. 13) at the UGM Campus.
Dr. Arsana stated that UGM is prepared to cooperate with the Prosecutor’s Office in resolving the legal matter that has caused financial losses to the state.
In light of this incident, UGM will continue to strengthen governance improvements, particularly in the development of the tea and chocolate industries. The program also aims to support downstream development in Indonesia’s chocolate industry.
Dr. Arsana reaffirmed UGM’s commitment to enhancing transparency and accountability in the governance of its holding company and investment management across various business sectors. “Learning from this case, we will continue to pursue sustainable improvements and conduct ongoing evaluations to ensure more accountable and transparent budget governance,” he concluded.
