Supporting the development of the Veterinary Teaching Farm, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKH UGM) has received a total of 40 head of cattle from two partner companies in the livestock industry, PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam and PT Sido Agung Farm. The donation is intended to strengthen the development of the SMART Veterinary Teaching Farm located in Playen, Gunungkidul.
Dean of FKH UGM, Professor Teguh Budipitojo, stated that the cattle assistance from industry partners is expected to enhance learning facilities and research infrastructure at the SMART Veterinary Teaching Farm, thereby supporting the educational process and improving the competencies of future veterinarians.
Professor Budipitojo expressed his appreciation for the support and trust extended by PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam and PT Sido Agung Farm in advancing student competency development and the SMART Veterinary Teaching Farm.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam and PT Sido Agung Farm for their strong support of the SMART Veterinary Teaching Farm,” said Professor Budipitojo in a statement sent to the media on Sunday (Feb. 8).
According to him, the learning facility is designed to improve the quality of education and student competence, particularly in practical skills and field-based understanding of ruminant animal health care and breeding.
“The availability of adequate practical facilities is one of the essential requirements for enabling students to learn directly in real practice settings,” Professor Budipitojo explained.
The ceremonial handover of the cattle was marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement between FKH UGM and the two partner companies. The event continued with a ribbon-cutting ceremony symbolizing the official inauguration of the cattle barn.

General Manager of PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam, William Bulo, stated that the collaboration reflects the company’s commitment to education and to supporting the growth of Indonesia’s national cattle population.
“We are always eager to contribute to the academic sector in Indonesia while also helping to increase the national cattle population. This is our motivation for donating 21 head of cattle and establishing cooperation with FKH UGM,” he said.
Through this collaboration, William expressed his hope that the SMART Veterinary Teaching Farm would develop into a research center while also strengthening ties between higher education institutions and the livestock industry.
“What we expect from this cooperation is that it will support student competencies, serve as a research facility, and foster collaboration with industry partners,” he concluded.
The cattle handover ceremony was attended by UGM Director of Research, Professor Mirwan Ushada; Marketing Director of PT Sido Agung Farm, Dr. Asrokh Nawawi; and General Manager of PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam, William Bulo, along with faculty leaders and department heads from FKH UGM.
