Again, achievement was gained by UGM students at the national level. This time, the prestigious record is inscribed by International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Team of Faculty of Law UGM who successfully won the overall championship as well as the best memorial on international humanitarian law moot court which was held by the Indonesian Red Cross in cooperation with the Indonesian Society of International Law (ISIL).
IHL Team consisting of Fajri Matahati Muhamadin, Rizki Wirastomo, Utama Yudistira Izechson, and Dandi Andila Hamid succeeded to defeat 15 participants from a number of universities throughout Indonesia. In the moot court competition this time, the UGM team defeated University of Parahyangan team in the semifinal. Furthermore, it succeeded to beat University of Indonesia team in the final round.
The victory made this team a representative of Indonesia in IHL competition in the Asia-Pacific, which will be held in March 2011 in Hong Kong, involving 19 teams from 16 countries.
The success of UGM IHL Team repeats the same success as in year 2006. It is an annual competition that aims to disseminate knowledge of international humanitarian law among the public by developing moot court format. Moot court format is implemented gradually starting at national, regional to international levels.
