Additionally, recognition was given to study program heads who drove the MBKM Initiative (Directorate of Education and Teaching/DPP) and 10 study programs nominated for the 2024 PDDIKTI AWARD at the university level (DPP).
Further accolades were awarded to 18 outstanding (inspirational) non-teaching staff at UGM, three top-performing Information and Documentation Management Officers (PPIDs) in the 2024 UGM Public Information Service Evaluation and Monitoring, and 16 outstanding students.
These awards celebrate various individuals and groups’ significant achievements and contributions within the UGM community.
UGM Rector Professor Ova Emilia stated that the Outstanding Individual Awards aim to motivate and recognize alumni, lecturers, students, work units, and non-teaching staff who have contributed their best to Universitas Gadjah Mada.
As UGM’s leader, she expressed her happiness that both in-person and online attendees witnessed the presentation of approximately 89 awards to UGM’s outstanding individuals.
“I would like to congratulate and thank all participants—whether they are lecturers, researchers, staff, alumni, or students—who have participated or been nominated for these Awards,” she said.
Professor Emilia emphasized that all participants and nominees are exceptional in their fields. For those who have not yet received an award, the rector encouraged them not to feel disappointed, as there will be future opportunities for self-development.
“Of course, I hope that what you receive tonight, as winners, will serve as a new responsibility to become role models who inspire and motivate your colleagues or, for students, to move forward together as a unified strength for Universitas Gadjah Mada,” she added.
Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni Dr. Arie Sujito also expressed appreciation for the students, lecturers, and staff who have excelled in various fields.
Dr. Sujito mentioned that the awards are UGM’s way of recognizing the contributions of all its academic community members, who dedicate their knowledge, effort, and thought to ensure UGM continues to play a role and contribute to the nation.
“Congratulations to all the recipients—lecturers, students, and staff—this award is given to those who have excelled, and this initiative has been ongoing since 2006,” he said.
As the Chair of the 75th UGM Anniversary and 15th Lustrum Committee, Dr. Sujito hoped the UGM Outstanding Individual Awards would inspire others across Indonesia and the world.
He also hoped these achievements would inspire UGM’s academic community to continue innovating to strengthen national values and civility.
“This will certainly have a positive impact on the development and strength of the nation. Once again, congratulations to all the award recipients. May you continue to contribute to the nation and the country, and may UGM remain excellent and competitive,” he concluded.
