Universitas Gadjah Mada welcomed a delegation from PT Pertamina Bina Medika Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (Pertamedika IHC) on Tuesday (Sep. 2) at the UGM Central Office. The visit marked the beginning of discussions on potential collaboration between UGM Academic Hospital (RSA UGM) and Pertamedika IHC.
President Director of RSA UGM, Dr. Darwito, stated that both parties agreed to support the construction of new hospital facilities at RSA UGM and the expansion of orthopedic and oncology services. One of the planned buildings will specifically house a trauma center.
“The trauma center was chosen because RSA UGM’s location near the toll road makes it a strategic alternative to be developed. Moreover, traffic accidents occur frequently and are not yet adequately addressed,” said Dr. Darwito.
UGM Rector Professor Ova Emilia emphasized that RSA UGM, as a hospital providing healthcare services, education, and research, seeks to establish a specialized trauma center dedicated to patients suffering from trauma or accident-related injuries.
“Trauma services are not only about treatment but also about research and the potential development of new medicines,” she explained.
According to Professor Emilia, joining forces with Pertamedika IHC will strengthen service development, treatment innovations, and clinical trials for new medicines.
“This collaboration can bring greater benefits to society,” she added.
President Director of Pertamedika IHC, Dr. Lukman Ma’ruf, expressed his appreciation for the initiative to explore collaboration between RSA UGM and IHC.
“This meeting opens opportunities for broader cooperation between both institutions,” he said.
