Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) continues to encourage lecturers and researchers to be productive in generating scientific works and innovative products that benefit society and industry.
To protect its impactful research findings, UGM has launched its Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO UGM). This launch took place on Tuesday (May 21) at the UGM Innovation and Creativity Hub (GIK UGM).
The facilities provided by IPMO UGM include Intellectual Property (IP) applications with UGM ownership, which are submitted to the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Indonesian Ministry of Law.
Additionally, IPMO UGM will guide IP application procedures and analysis of IP potential from academic community research results within the university.
It will also conduct workshops, socialization, and technical guidance on IP.
UGM Vice-Rector for Research, Business Development, and Partnerships, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, stated that IPMO UGM would encourage young innovators to produce quality research and innovative works.
“We are ready to facilitate innovations that will be registered with IPMO UGM, and there will be departmental assistance later on,” Dr. Hadmoko explained.
Head of IPMO UGM, Professor Sang Kompiang Wirawan, stated that IPMO UGM’s vision is to become an integrity-driven, innovative, and globally competitive intellectual property management and protection service center.
This vision is realized by establishing an Adaptive Intellectual Property information and policy center, developing strategic partnerships, and facilitating Intellectual Property for UGM academic community members.
He added that IPMO UGM is responsible for the supervision and enforcement of IP rights.
Not only that, IPMO UGM also plays a role in providing assistance and facilitation in the intellectual property registration process, database management and development, as well as collaboration with industry and government.
