The Health Promoting University of Universitas Gadjah Mada (HPU UGM) received an award from the Sleman Regency Health Office for successfully implementing a healthy campus initiative. The award was presented during the National Health Day commemoration on Thursday (Dec. 11), held at the Shinta Atrium, Sleman City Hall.
HPU Secretary, Dr. Supriyati, expressed her appreciation for the award granted by the Sleman Regency Government, which she described as regional recognition of the healthy campus programs implemented.
“We are grateful that the local government has shown its attention to the programs we have been running,” said Dr. Supriyati, who is familiarly known as Prie, on Friday (Dec. 12).
Before receiving the regional-level award, Dr. Prie noted that HPU UGM had already achieved five-star-plus recognition at the ASEAN level. At the national level, HPU UGM recorded several achievements, including being selected in 2022 as Indonesia’s leading campus in the GERMAS (Healthy Community Movement) program.
On that occasion, UGM received two awards from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia: first place in Cultivating the Community Movement in Higher Education and recognition as a Healthy Campus. In addition, at the ASEAN level, UGM earned five-star ratings twice consecutively and, in 2024, achieved a five-star-plus score.
However, despite HPU UGM’s many achievements, Dr. Prie explained that they had never achieved this regional recognition before. According to her, the award from the Sleman Regency Health Office was granted because HPU UGM has successfully fostered various forms of collaboration and synergy to improve public health.

Dr. Prie acknowledged that HPU UGM has engaged in extensive collaboration with the Sleman Regency Government, including efforts to prevent and manage communicable and non-communicable diseases.
“What HPU UGM has been doing, both directly and indirectly, has contributed significantly and is considered very helpful to the Sleman Regency Government,” she explained.
The appreciation received by HPU UGM from the Sleman Regency Health Office is not only a mark of achievement but also a challenge to sustain it.
“UGM has long been a pioneer in Yogyakarta and Indonesia in implementing the health-promoting university concept. The challenge now is how we maintain what is already good while continuing to improve areas that are not yet optimal,” she added.
Dr. Prie hopes that the award will further motivate the UGM academic community to be more enthusiastic in realizing a healthy campus. This can begin with simple actions such as wearing helmets while riding, refraining from smoking, adopting healthy eating patterns, engaging in regular physical activity, and nurturing mental well-being.
“Achieving a healthy campus is not solely the responsibility of HPU administrators. It should become the shared spirit of the entire UGM academic community to practice a healthy lifestyle and contribute to creating a healthier UGM environment,” she concluded.
