Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Mayapada Hospital have agreed to establish collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community service on Monday (Jan. 13) at the UGM Central Office. Several areas of cooperation are expected to be realized in the near term, including partnerships in education and research, as well as the development of a research building at UGM Academic Hospital (RSA UGM).
UGM Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, welcomed the initiative to collaborate with Mayapada Hospital to develop a clinical research unit in Indonesia and to encourage the creation of medical devices.
“We also aim to establish a trauma center that will later serve as a referral center for trauma care and medical rehabilitation,” she said at the UGM Executive Meeting Room on Monday (Jan. 13).

Professor Emilia explained that in the field of education, both parties agreed to train prospective specialist doctors at the UGM campus from Mayapada Hospital and to provide UGM medical resident students with opportunities to receive training at Mayapada Hospital.
In the research field, UGM and Mayapada Hospital also agreed to collaborate on the development of medical materials such as pharmaceuticals through clinical trials and stem cell research.
Meanwhile, in terms of research infrastructure development, both institutions plan to jointly advance academic research, including the construction of a research unit building at RSA UGM, the provision of laboratory equipment and other supporting research facilities, the formation of collaborative research teams, and the development of joint research programs.

Dini Handayani, Chief Medical Officer of Mayapada Healthcare Group, expressed her appreciation for the proposed collaboration plans with UGM.
“Thank you, and as a follow-up to this visit, the Mayapada Strategic Team will soon visit RSA UGM, and we will proceed to sign the memorandum of cooperation as soon as possible,” she said.
