The Universitas Gadjah Mada Employees Corps (Korpagama) remains committed to fostering partnerships and ensuring the welfare of its members. As part of this effort, Korpagama presents Appreciation Certificates and Solidarity Funds to employees who have reached retirement age. This routine event, held on Monday (Jan. 26) at the Korpagama Office in the B6 Complex, Bulaksumur, honored 11 UGM employees retiring.
Professor Achmadi Priyatmojo, Chair of Korpagama, explained that the initiative has been conducted since September 2022 to recognize the service, dedication, and hard work of faculty members and staff as they enter retirement.
“We aim to express appreciation to lecturers and education staff for their contributions and dedicated service to UGM,” he said on Thursday (Jan. 29).
Professor Priyatmojo, who is fondly known as Ipik, further clarified that, as civil servants, employees’ retirement is officially marked on their birthdays. The retirement ages are 70 for professors, 65 for lecturers, and 58 for staff.
Therefore, certificates and the solidarity funds are presented a month later, once the official retirement decree has been issued.
“Retirement is indeed determined based on the individual’s date of birth,” he explained.

Addressing those entering retirement, Professor Ipik encouraged them to make the most of their newfound free time by spending it with family, engaging with neighbors and the community, and pursuing meaningful activities.
“At the same time, it is important to affirm that retirement does not mean the end. There are still opportunities to contribute to society. Maintaining good health is also essential,” the chair added.
Regarding Korpagama’s role, he noted that the organization is available to support all UGM lecturers and education staff throughout their careers. According to him, Korpagama serves as a partner to the university leadership in realizing the university’s vision and mission.
“We are very pleased when employees visit our office to discuss or share issues they are facing so that we can find solutions together,” he concluded.
