Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has admitted 4,480 prospective new students through the 2026 Universitas Gadjah Mada Computer-Based Test (UM UGM CBT) admission pathway. The successful applicants were selected from a total of 44,972 participants who took the examination in Yogyakarta and Jakarta from June 2-8, 2026. The independent admission pathway is the final stage in UGM’s 2026/2027 academic year admissions process. With tens of thousands of applicants participating, competition in this selection process was exceptionally intense.
UGM Vice Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, stated that the selection process was conducted objectively and comprehensively to identify prospective students with strong academic readiness and outstanding potential. The high number of applicants reflects the public’s trust in UGM as a higher education institution. Nevertheless, the university continues to align admissions with its capacity to maintain educational quality. Therefore, the selection was carried out rigorously based on participants’ performance across all designated examination components.
“We are grateful for the high level of public interest in studying at UGM, as it reflects public confidence in the quality of education we provide. However, we must maintain a balance between the number of admitted students and the university’s capacity to ensure that the learning process remains optimal,” she said.
Among the 93 undergraduate and applied bachelor’s degree programs offered through the UM UGM CBT pathway, several programs once again experienced exceptionally high competition. This year, the most competitive program was Medicine, with an admission ratio of 1:96, followed by Dentistry, Industrial Engineering, Management, and Public Policy and Management.
The high level of competition indicates that prospective students’ interests remain concentrated in several specific fields of study. Nevertheless, nearly all programs at UGM attracted applicants far exceeding their available quotas. This condition reflects the strong public demand for higher education at UGM.
In addition to the programs with the highest competition levels, several programs also recorded the largest number of applicants in this year’s UM UGM CBT selection. These included Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Psychology, and Management. The data indicate that health sciences, social sciences and humanities, and business remain the most popular fields among participants. At the same time, several other programs also experienced increased interest compared to the previous year.
“Health sciences, law, and business continue to be the top choices for many prospective students. At the same time, we are seeing more applicants explore other programs that align with their interests and personal development goals,” said Professor Wening.
According to Professor Wening, the diversity of study program choices reflects the increasingly broad interests and aspirations of prospective students as they determine their educational paths. UGM continues to provide an academic environment that supports student development across a wide range of disciplines.
Through a credible and accountable selection process, the university hopes to admit students who are ready to grow and contribute to society. The admission process remains an important step in maintaining the quality of education offered by UGM.
“We hope that admitted students will make the most of this opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to society. For those who were not successful through this pathway, many other opportunities to pursue higher education remain available,” she concluded.
The results of the 2026 UM UGM CBT selection can be accessed through UGM’s official admissions website at admissions.ugm.ac.id/pengumuman. Participants who are declared successful must complete the registration and verification stages according to the schedule established by the university. Information regarding registration, tuition fee payments (UKT), and other administrative procedures is available through UGM’s official website.
UGM encourages all participants to carefully follow the applicable schedules and requirements to ensure a smooth registration process. Admitted students are also expected to complete all administrative requirements within the designated timeframe.
